Reorganising commercial teams for RWE Renewables at RWEST
In September 2021 RWE Renewables launched Project Accelerate. The aim: to further grow and strengthen their position as a globally leading renewables player in all technologies – in offshore wind, onshore wind and solar/PV, so it could leverage every growth opportunity in the market and really step up the pace on “green energy”.
In the end offshore and onshore/solar businesses were to be managed in separate divisions. For this purpose, three new business units were created in June 2022: RWE Offshore Wind (Offshore), RWE Renewables Europe & Australia (OPEA) and RWE Renewables Americas (OPAM), working as independent operating units.
The new set-up will enable us to focus on capturing future growth opportunities across markets and technologies. At the same time, we want to ensure leaner and faster processes empowering the teams to think and act in an entrepreneurial way. As part of the reorganisation, commercial activities connected with the Renewables were centralised under the umbrella of RWEST. In the process, more than 100 colleagues in Europe and the US moved from the existing Renewables subsidiary to RWEST. During the transition period, key processes, methods and risk approaches within the RWE Group were further harmonised, allowing RWEST to further cement its role as the “commercial heart of the Group”.
Our team in the US was also reorganised: 31 employees of the Commercial US and Risk & Revenue Controlling teams of RWE Renewables Americas (RWERA) moved to the newly established RWE Supply & Trading Americas, LLC (RWESTA) in December 2022.
