With a relaxed atmosphere and happy laughter, the office is filled with life and a good mood. In line with its “Growth & Innovation” strategy, RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST) has prepared its growth in China step by step and now the time has come: The new location in the capital Beijing is officially opened.
In the middle of the Chaoyang District, the colleagues will build up their portfolio on 210m² of office space, develop business ideas with new customers and further promote energy trading in China. “We are pleased that RWE Supply & Trading (Shanghai) Co, Ltd. is now also gaining a foothold here. Of course, coal trading will be the basis of our business, as the market in China is enormous. But trading with iron ore and metals cannot be ruled out either,” summarizes Project Manager Frank Klepzig, based in Singapore.
The path to the inauguration was also an exciting challenge for the Corporate Governance & Global Facilities team. From concept to implementation, the influence of cultural customs has played a significant role: “In every office, for example, a reception must be taken into account in the building plans, even if it is not always occupied. It is good manners for the office manager to greet important guests there before they start the meeting,” notes Susanne Krug from the Facilities team.
With a total of 15 workplaces and two meeting rooms, the office has a comfortable layout, which offers plenty of space for creative phases. But why is it so important to establish a new location in Beijing? For Frank Klepzig, the reason is relatively simple: “Firstly, it is true that a large number of transactions are only permitted with a company registered in China. On the other hand, and this is the more important part, we can best develop our business if we have permanent local contact with our customers. Trusting, personal contacts are an indispensable prerequisite for successful business relations in China”.
