We have now been working together for almost a year at RWE Gas Midstream. All of us have worked extremely hard in this period of time and certainly we often have neglected our families and private lifes.

But it has been really worth the effort! Our achievements are enormous and we have accomplished a great deal. We have built the company, i. e. we have been successful in hiring and
integrating many excellent people to build up a first class team. We are also progressing well in giving our business a long term direction. We have jointly developed our strategy and defined clear and ambitious goals. Joining the Nabucco project and developing our LNG activities we are expanding and diversifying our gas procurement. We have also achieved our first successes in our more “traditional areas of business, cutting out intermediaries, winning new midstream customers and renegotiating contracts. Portfolio optimisation started to bear real fruits – substantial amounts of money is being saved and made.

What is in store for us in the next 12 months? We will further focus on achieving operational excellence and improving our profitability. This is the road which will bring more success in
a ever changing market. With this in mind, I would like to thank you, also on behalf of my colleagues on the Board, for your outstanding commitment. My colleagues and I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2008.
